Are you can eco-conscious fashion lover who wants to learn more about sustainability? Then come celebrate Earth Day with New York School of Design as we introduce our new Upcycled Fashion Design program on April 26.
The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at our campus in the heart of the Garment District and promises to be a fun, fashion filled night with a focus on sustainability. NYSD ambassador Lyn Slater of Accidental Icon will be here to discuss our new Upcycled Fashion Design program, a 6-week course that teaches designers to turned previously worn garments into high-end designs. We will also have both current students and instructors on-hand to lead tours around our facilities and answer any questions you might have about NYSD or our programs.
Designer Isabel Varela will be here to talk about her local, sustainable fashion line, Isavel Varela. The brand creates minimalistic, luxury garments using organic fabrics sourced in the US and Canada. All manufacturing is done in New York City and leftover material is upcycled or used to create bags or artwork. Varela will speak about her dedication to ethical fashion and being part of the bigger sustainable fashion movement.
